I'm Rob Bart. I've spent the last decade buying land, building homes, and selling them across Oregon, Idaho, and New Mexico. Forge Homes NW exists because I figured out a faster, cheaper, and better way to put people in brand new homes — and I do every step of it myself.
Rob's story
I've been buying land, developing it, and selling homes since 2017 — across Oregon, Idaho, and New Mexico. On every project I did the actual work: clearing the lot, pouring foundations, framing, plumbing, electric, drywall, finish work, and then the marketing and sale.
Before that, I ran Forge Small Homes in Portland in 2015 and 2016, building factory-built ADUs that were assembled on site. I've also run Forge Portland — a co-working space — and Forge Bee Yard, my current land holding company. The Forge brand has been my business identity for over a decade.
What I learned in the ADU years: factory-built homes are built better, faster, and cheaper than stick-built when the process is right. Lumber doesn't sit in the rain. Crews don't frame in a downpour. The same materials with select upgrades produce a home that matches or beats anything custom-built on a lot — for less money. The ADU process never quite worked. The manufactured home process does.
Forge Homes NW exists because most manufactured home dealers stop at the home. They don't find the land, they don't pull the permits, they don't manage the build. Most of my buyers don't have time to do those things themselves. So I do all of it — and because I'm the dealer, the developer, and the agent, you get the whole package at one price instead of paying three different markups along the way.
Why this matters
For most Americans, owning a home is the most powerful wealth-building tool they'll ever have access to. Every payment goes toward something you own — not someone else's mortgage. Over a couple of decades, that single shift is what separates families who build equity from families who don't.
The traditional path — agent, lender, builder, dealer, all taking a cut — has gotten expensive enough that a lot of people have written off ever owning. Forge Homes is a more direct version of the same path. Brand new home, on land, at a price that actually works. That's the whole idea.
Where we work
Forge is most active in the Columbia River Gorge, Bend and Central Oregon, and along the I-5 corridor from Eugene up through Vancouver, Washington.
